We have accepted our first female recipient, Yan Torres, from Puerto Rico.
Yan is 21 years old, originally from Caguas. She will begin classes at the International Culinary Center shortly and remain in NYC for the year in order to get mentorships, culinary education and experience working in New York restaurants.
She is passionate about travel and dreams of one day opening her own sustainable restaurant, focused on teaching the Puerto Rican community about sustainability and empowering people of scarce resources to start a career in the culinary arts.
